in order to understand completely you would need to listen to the following sermons... these are sermons that have changed our perspective. and quite honestly, have changed our lives....
you can catch it at:
http://ylfc.org/cgi-bin/MediaList.cgi?section=&cat=Worship%20Servicesand click to listen to october 26th... if you can i would suggest listening to ALL OF THE PRAYER AND FASTING SERMONS.... :) They have really ministered to eric and my life.
- we have been seeking God's wisdom and guidance in figuring out where we should be in life... making sure we seek Him so that we have peace in our life's knowing we are exactly where God plans to use us, to serve His kingdom.
- we have tried to simplify our lives by learning to slow down (a lesson i learned in my MOPS group) and Eric and I both decided to work on, and it is so amazing! through simplifying we feel like we can take more time to pray, more time to 'listen' to God. i have a hard time sitting in one place and having silence, but i have spent so much time in silence that i find myself praying during that time and singing (hard to admit :0)
- another lesson i have learned was one through my bible study through the warehouse church....(<---- which has been totally amazing. i have really gotten on track with my spiritual life through these bible studies) i learned not to carry my sins around with me, but to allow God to cleanse me of the things i have done in the past and look toward the present. it has been challenging but amazing to have burdens lifted off me.
- the last thing that has taken place is my heart being changed by God. at yorba linda friends i really felt my heart strings. i have felt them for weeks now....
yorba linda friends, is very involved in serving India. Our church is building schools and businesses in order to reach those from the farthest depths of the world, a place where they need Jesus so much. It is amazing to see the work our church is doing and week after week we hear updates.
it had been a few weeks since we had been to a service at Yorba Linda friends since we had been attending two churches- it got to be a lot on the girls. well in those weeks we really felt the enemy attacking us. we felt like god was so far away. often wondering, 'god where are you?'
last week we went to yorba linda friends and once again, they spoke on India, just like normal... and just like normal, my heart strings were being tugged at.
i sat in my chair, my heart beating as fast as can be. the room all of the sudden got really warm and i felt like i couldn't shake it. i couldn't ignore it anymore. for weeks i had felt this way, but this time it was different. i have prayed and prayed that god would use people in my life to speak to me. i know that god cant send me a letter in the mail, and i was having a hard time knowing how and when god speaks to people.
it was so clear to me. our head pastor Matthew cork said, 'we're going to sing another song and as the song is being sung, if you feel like you need prayer for something, prayer that your life would no longer be ordinary but extraordinary, then i want you to come up....' he proceeded with several more reasons that someone might want to come up....
instantly Eric grabbed my hand and we went forward. a gentleman prayed with us. for our finances, for Riley, for my health, for peace to surround our house and for the enemy to flee.
when the prayer was done i told Eric, i had to stay up there and talk to Matthew. we turned around and he was done with the woman he was praying for... i walked over and began to weep. i cant explain to you if it was weeping of joy. weeping of relief. i am not sure but i was filled with so many emotions all at once that i could hardly speak. he allowed me to weep for a minute and he had tears in his eyes as well.
i said to him, something like this, 'every time you talk about India this feeling comes over me. my heart starts racing and i feel so much love in my heart and so much sorrow for these people. i have these feelings and i cant get them out of my head, its a feeling, (and at the same time he spoke these words when i spoke them) its a feeling i cant shake. and then i proceeded to say, 'so now what do i do? what do i do with this?'
after speaking to him there were a lot of words exchanged, it was amazing. i felt the hand of God work in my life like i have never in my life felt before. with Eric still by my side Matthew prayed with us... and the things he prayed for were just perfect. they were words taken straight from my mouth.
so needless to say, i don't know what is going to happen from here, but Matthew and i are going to be emailing and we will probably meet very soon to discuss some things he had mentioned to me. he said the first step in knowing what god wants of us is to act on the first step we feel, and that is being there. so he said, they will get me there, and we will figure this out together. there are a few teams going and i may be part of one of those teams.
these are short trips, no i am not moving to India.
these are trips where we go and worship with the people of India. we pray for the people, we will help empower the women of India to find jobs to help their families. to support the schools being built. to love on the people and to allow God to work through each one of us, in the way he has fit.
God is doing big things. we are seeking Him daily. seeking Him first. realigning our priorities. taking care of our family. spending time praying as a family and not just at the dinner table.
we are being stretched. we are being taken from our comfort zones. we are being moved into directions we never saw coming.
but we feel gods peace. we feel the enemy attacking but we feel prayers surrounding us.
the blog world is interesting. you never know who is reading your blog, or if they know you personally or not. but no matter what i find people placing blogs in my lap, people that need prayer, people that God is using, and i follow these blogs and weekly i pray over these. i often wonder, how many people and who is reading our blog. and if you know us personally or not. but the fact of the matter is, we feel so much prayer surrounding us. we feel god giving us clarity in the things that seem blurry. we find strength in our times of weakness.
just a few steps away i felt so depleted. i felt so drained. my cup half empty, actually dry. and so quickly things turned around, when i recognized this happening. i began to pray more. and someone spoke into me, 'god allows trials and struggles because this is how we know faith. this is how we grow spiritually.....'
we have grown. we are growing. every day. more and more.
we covet your prayers. thank you to those who have faithfully prayed. we hold tightly to that.
its somewhat scary to post something like this. to post your heart and soul into the life's of others... but this is what we do. we open our hearts and share with you. the journey. the journey of all the happenings in our lives... and this is such a huge huge thing- it had to be shared. shared so you can offer your prayers, shared as an encouragement, which i hope it would be.
seek Him. take time to be still. take time 'to listen' it is amazing to hear the things He might want to say.
